	The purpose of this website is to provide connections among the 14 participating elementary schools in the Northern New Mexico Library Improvement Project, as well as to provide links to other library resources.



	The Northern New Mexico Library Improvement Project is a grant written by High Desert Education and implemented by REC #4 through an Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Grant. This grant is assisting 14 elementary school sites with the following activities:


	Provide students with up-to-date reading materials in their school libraries;
	Update library technology by automating collections with Athena OPAC software;
	Link 14 school libraries and 1 public library via a website and interlibrary loan program;
	Train Library Media Specialists and Library Assistants in literacy improvement strategies and collaboration with teachers, administrators, and public librarians; and
	Increase access to school libraries during non-school hours to a limited extent.
